I have a Sony Vaio laptop with licensed Windows Vista Home Premium (64-bit).
Yesterday, it crashed and is only displaying an error message,
============
File: \Boot\BCD
Status: 0xc0000034
Info: The Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information
=============
According to this document, Error message when you start Windows Vista: "The Windows Boot Configuration Data file is missing required information", I have to repair my computer.
I have three recovery disks only but not original Windows install disks.
I insert the first recovery disk. Laptop reads the disk and displays the options to choose.
It gave me two options
1. Start VAIO Recovery Center
2. Repair Windows Vista (64-bit).
I choose the default hilighted option #1.
Then it displays "Windows is loading files" message and then
a progress bar and "Microsoft Corparation".
After this nothing happens. All I see on the screen is the mouse pointer but the screen itself is blank (blue/black).
For hours and hours, nothing happens.
Are my recovery disks also bad? What options I have now to recover/repair?
