Alright guys,
Hope you all can help me sort this out since it's driving me crazy. Back in December of 2011, I overhauled my gaming rig with a new power supply (750W Silverstone Strider Gold), a new CPU (Core 2 Quad Extreme 9650), a new video card (EVGA GTX570 Superclocked), a new audio card (Creative X-Fi Fatal1ty), an additional 2 x 2gb of G.SKILL DDR2 800 Pi RAM for a total of 8gb, and a new Corsair case (not that this should matter). The additional ram was matched with an older 2 x 2gb set of G.SKILL Pi RAM. According to the manufacturer, the only thing that was changed between the two sets was the heat spreader. Additionally, I'm running Vista Ultimate x64.
My machine hummed along awesomely for about 5 months. Then back in May of this year, I started getting random crashes in World of Warcraft and Battlefield 3. At first, I would just crash to the desktop, but then this devolved into total BSOD system crashes. The stop messages include the following: CACHE_MANAGER, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL, MEMORY_MANAGEMENT, PAGE_FAULT_IN_NONPAGED_AREA, KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED, IRQL_GT_ZERO_AT_SYSTEM_SERVICE, POOL_CORRUPTION_IN_FILE_AREA, INTERRUPT_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED.
-So far I've done an SFC /SCANNOW, which comes back with the corruption of a couple files every time I run it. The corrupted file is inetres.admx and inetres.adml
-I've run Memtest+ 4.20 on all four sticks of RAM, which at first yielded zero errors. However, I recently tried this again on all four sticks for 3 passes, which took about 4.5 hours) and it returned almost 1100 errors.
-I then re-ran Memtest for each of the two stick pairs. I ran 3 passes on the older and 3 passes on the newer pair. Both tests resulted in zero errors.
-I've done a System Repair from the Vista disk.
-I've ran a chkdsk, which came back with no errors.
I'm running the four sticks of RAM at the recommended stock voltage 1.908v. The acceptable range is between 1.8v - 1.9v. I've thought about bumping up that voltage to get some stability, but I'm a little apprehensive of running more power through them. I've also considered just going to a 2 x 4gb set of RAM to get away from having to run 4 sticks on my mobo. I haven't tried reinstalling the OS yet as I might just upgrade to either Win 7 or 8 on an SSD. I would just hate to be dealing with more BSODs once I did so; therefore, I want to iron this problem out now. I've attached 12 or so Minidumps from events that occurred over the last four months. Hopefully, one of you guys can spot a common thread that might point to the culpable piece of hardware or software code. Thanks in advance!!
