BSOD, IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL on Vista

I have gotten the blue screen of death since this morning and have not been able to fix it. My laptop freezes about 2 min after start-up, and then turns into bsod.
I personally don't think that I know much about computers so can someone please help?

It appears that your Symantec Anti Virus is the cause of the problem:
Make a system restore point in case of problems
Then this is what you do go to the Symantec Web site and download the uninstall tool.
Uninstall the Symantec AV
Then download and install Microsoft Security Essentials, which is just a good as the paid AV software
