Computer crashes to black or grey screen

Well a few months ago my computer had heat problems and I fixed them but then more problems happened. It kept crashing and the computer would just shut off or it would go to black screen and do nothing. So then it wouldnt come on at all only to the screen where it says loading windows then nothing. It wouldnt do a system restore or anything. So I let the computer sit for a few months and then today decided to mess with it. Well it came on without any problems at all!.... atleast for a few minutes then the screen started to flicker a bit I thaught maybe the computer screen got messed up while it was siting all those months.... well I try going to control panel to look at some thing and when I do It goees to a greyish white screen and does nothing! So I try to do a system recovery and it does the same thing. What could be wrong?

Please start by running these bootable hardware diagnostics:
Memory Diagnostics (read the details at the link)
HD Diagnostic (read the details at the link) - Test ALL of the hard drives.
