bsod and now will not start, drivers missing

Hi I have a compaq presario cq60 laptop running windows vista home premium and I had a blue screen appear. When I turned my computer back on it goes the the black screen where you can either pick repair (recommended) or start windows normally, it doesn't do anything when I choose start it normally and when I go to repair it goes to system recovery options, it doesn't show any operating system and it says if you do not see your operating system listed, click load drivers to load drivers for your hard disks. I'm not sure what to do from there...

Possibly a hard drive problem. Can you test your hard drive?

I don't think I can the only thing I can actually get to is that system recovery screen, that doesn't even show my c: drive...
I tried f8 at the startup screen to last known good configuration and all that happened was my computer restarted

Have stuff that you want to save before we proceed?

I do have some files on my c drive I would like to keep if that's at all possible
