Hello,
My sister has an old laptop that hasn't been used for years. I thought that for the lols I would try to start it up. To my surprise, it turned off and on and off and on until it finally booted up completely. My sister's old files were there. I want to back up all those files to put on her newer Windows 7 laptop.
I was playing a game that was installed on that computer, but then the game stopped responding. I pressed Ctrl + Alt + Delete, and nothing happened. The screen was completely black.
So the last resort was to hold down the power button until it instantly switched off. I tried turning it on again, and the three lights at the bottom of the laptop flicker and turn off again when I press the power button, and nothing else. I tried running it without the battery while it was still plugged in, and it still woulden't turn on. Even if I took out the plug while the battery was still in, the lights would still flicker. The battery was cold, I have no indication that the laptop is charging. However the rectangular box where you plug in the cable that leads to the mains is warm.
I have searched the internet, and apparently if you hold down the power button while the battery isn't in, it will drain the remaining battery life memory. Apparently I may have to do a "hard reset", however I must keep the files saved onto the laptop.

- Thank you for everything you've done for me in the past years. I'm sorry that games require much more than you're capable of, but you'll never be forgotten as my first personal computer <3
