Hello.
Need some help and information please to get my toshiba laptop going again. Its a Satellite A300-1mc running Vista 32 bit which has a pre-installed hdd recovery. When I first bought it I tried making the recovery disks and it copied the first one ok but gave me an error when writing the second disk.I didnt pursue this any further as didnt think I would ever need them..but kept the disks anyway.
Fast forward a year later and now have a problem.Every so often I liked to re-install Vista and would do this through the prompt keys within vista which obviously formats the hdd and puts fresh windows back on.The last time I did this the procedure seemed to stop while it was formatting so had to power down.On power up I now have nothing except the message BOOTMGR is missing.Well I tried the recovery disks I had.Took the first one ok but stopped on second disk.
Ive been to the Neosmart webite and got the recovery disc software which seems to give me Bootmgr and gives me the screen to do restore/repair etc but because it looks like my windows Vista is not there anymoreand I cant recover it etc. From that same screen I am able to enter command prompt which I can view some of my hdd in dos mode(amateur at this by the way). From there it looks like on C drive I have a folder Temp and Vista but to my untrained eye they look empty. From the same prompt I can see on drive (E
with dir/w that it has a folder called HDD recovery.I am assuming that is my recovery Image of WinVista. So what are my options in that I can only do something with my laptop through command prompt and DOS commands.....Can I do a copy of what is in E drive(hdd recovery files)and put them onto a DVD?...I dont how to do this or is there some other way of rescuing the software nad getting laptop to boot up
Thank you for any replies
