Hi:
I have been searching all morning for a solution. I was trying to do a system restore for a Gateway laptop Model MT6821 - Vista Home Premium (OEMAct). I have never done this before but my boss told me to insert the system restore disks when I turned on the laptop. I did that and it appeared to be doing ok until I got the blue screen of death.
The error message reads:
*** STOP: 0x0000007B (oxf78e2640, 0xc0000034, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)
The screen, keys, everything is frozen. I have turned the laptop off and tried rebooting several times but always ends at the frozen blue screen of death.
I did notice that I have the ability to hit the F2 and F10 keys - but not the F8 key. Is there a setting under the F2 or F10 that would help. My boss is out of town now and I have a few days to try to fix. The only problem is the system restore disks that he left me are for a Gateway laptop but Windows XP not Windows Vista. I know this laptop is Windows Vista because it has the sticker on the front and on the back of the laptop.
He recently fired the person that used this last and we think they took the original system restore disks home at some point but they are NOT in the office. Is there anything I can do????? thanks so much!
