Solved Blue Dot Crash

Hi there, my system recently crashed from a bad mod I installed for GTA IV. I've tried reformatting 2 different hard drives and get the same result on both, when I install a game and try to play I get Blue dots all over my screen and I get locked out entirely.

This time it's not locking up on me every time, but only when I boot up a game, and was just wondering what steps I might need to take to fix this. Any help would be greatly appreciated, thank you. I know I'll have to provide information on my part but am unsure of the specifics, please be gentle ;)

I'm sure I missed something here with my system specs hehe first time I've had to post it anywhere :p.

Last night when I was streaming viral videos the system crashed but I was able to do a ctrl+alt+delete reboot. I only have one game installed but so far it only crashes with these blue dots when I boot up a game it seems, all my other applications work fine.

Hello Matt40 can you tell us what os you have is it XP or vista. there are 8 kinds of vista and a few others for XP also.

Hello Matt40 have you tried to do a system restore.

Click start...
all programs...
click accessories...
then RIGHT click on the command prompt...
Click run as administrator..
When the command box comes up you would type this...
sfc /scannow
Note there is a space between the sfc and the forward slash.

Then just let it run untill it is finished, do not use or do any clicking of the mouse untill it is completed, this does fix a lot of things so give it a try and then let us know the results.

Yes I've done a system restore 3 times actually with the same result :cry: I've also tried partitioning the drive, and reinstalling windows, and I always get these weird crashes.

Hello Have you run the sfc /scannow yet if so look in the event viewer and send us the log.

Here are my solutions to freezing, and an excellent article, which I hope is of some help
Go to search type device manager and look for any yellow warning markers
Download and run malwarebytes, a full scan after you update
Run antivirus scan
Check memory with memtest86
Make sure that you are not over heating.
Try in safe mode; report back if it works properly.
Try a clean boot
Make sure PSU is working properly
If overclocking, restore to original
Test hard drive at company website.
Test in safe mode, does it still happen?
Try with clean boot..

I agree with rich 100% about the sfc.

Are you able to get into the reg mode at all.

No for some reason in regular mode the sfc scan does not work, it just flashes on my screen and disappears. But it works fine in safe mode.

I was going to ask if there is anything on your computer like files etc that you must keep. Also do you have a set of recover disk's or did you purchase the program from a store.

Fortunately there are no important files on my computer yet, in terms of restore disks all I have are my Windows disk and a disk with some non-essential drivers, applications and utilities.

My computer's condition is getting worse, when I booted it up today it crashed right away then when I rebooted it disabled my video driver and I got blue dots streaming across the screen. Should I just take it out back and put it out of it's misery?:mad:
