Can't get past "Other User"

In the roller coaster existence of my laptop in the past five days, I have had a virus, ran malware, went to black screen, ran malware. For 3 hours it worked, not great but I could get to my files. Then . . . yesterday it opened in safe mode to a sign in for "Other User". I have tried to names and passwords for both users, blank, admin but I can't get past the screen.

I have an operating system disc so I could start over but I would sure like to save some files before I go there.

HELP.

Are you using a Network PC? Have you tried Entering the Domain were the Username Resides first

E.g

HSC:\\[B](User Name)[/B]
