To start off none of this happened before my last windows update.
Would like to add that I was looking thru program files with protected opering files displayed and I went thru Installshield installation and it seemed to have less files than it should of particularly in regards to adobe and apple. I never ever touched that one and would it be possible that a virus got its claws in there and when i did a scan it found a virus or two, is it possible that it deleted that files along with the virus?
For some reason I there are some programs I can't remove, and trying to reinstall them doesn't do it. The two in particular are adobe and apples. Now, I went thru and deleted as many of the "physical" folders for these in program files and program data, and eventually, some of them got deleted from my list of program in programs and features but there are some that I still cant get rid of. For instance when I try and reinstall adobe reader it tells me that the program is already installed when as far as I can see, it's not. But it still shows version 9.3.3 in my installer window.
Also, I the window with the message The feature you are trying to use is on a network resource that is unavailable.
After I close that it pops up with the window with a red x that says:
The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it.
The problem is, it does, and I tryed to get rid of it, but no matter what i did I couldn't get rid of it.
And the culprits are:
Adobe Reader 9.3.3
Apple Application Support
Apple Software Update
Quicktime
All white icons.
I got rid of as many of the directories as I could.
The funny thing is, is that before my last windows up date this never happened. Never.
And one more thing, when I try to look up repair or fix windows installer it never brings up anything usefull. It always brings up how to uninstall microsoft office since the registry fixer upper thingy that microsoft offered is kaput. But of course this has nothing to do with microsoft office.
Oh, well, on second thought, my icons got all messed up after the last update too. I've done about all ten methods I could find. They went from non functional to functional but not displaying correctly.
So basically, I've done every thing, about 10 different things to get my icons back to normal, and I deleted all the junk files to clear up my computer.
Any ideas?
