Another BSOD due to nvlddmkm.sys

Hi, I was using my cousin's computer to help him burn some family videos into DVD using Roxio. It was my first time trying this program and I guess it was too intense for the graphic card. We have NVIDIA driver (from what I see in the program add/uninstall list), and I guess this crashed the graphic card. While burning the DVD, the BSOD came up and the computer rebooted. Now we cannot go into normal windows start up again because the same BSOD would come up and we have to go to safe mode. The problem is very similar to this post:

I have uninstall the graphic driver, delete the nvlddmkm.sys file and reinstall the newest version of the driver but that did not help. As of now, I have rolled back the driver installation.

I have tried to follow the posting instruction, but cannot generate a perfmon /report html file, because when i type that into "run", a window would pop up saying like "error: an error occured while attempting to generate a report. The system cannot find the path specified". So I have attached everything that I can do here minus the perfmon report (if you know how I can work around the error to get the report please let me know and i'll do it)

OEM Vista (preinstalled onto the machine, we do not have the Vista CD)
OS never have been reinstalled, and my cousin did not change any hardware on the machine.

I know this may still sound vague so if you need more information please let me know (also if you would please let me know where to look for those info that would be a big help since I am a novice user-maybe I should not mess with DVD burning in the first place).

Hi I was able to log into normal startup by disabling the graphic driver from safe mode so I was able to run the html file. Attached is the updated zip file

The MSINFO32 report isn't included, please do this:
MSINFO32:
Please go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter
Save the report as an .nfo file, then zip up the .nfo file and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

If you're having difficulties with the format, please open an elevated (Run as administrator) Command Prompt and type "msinfo32 /nfo C:\Users\Public\Desktop\TEST.NFO" (without the quotes) and press Enter. Then navigate to the C:\Users\Public\Desktop directory to retrieve the TEST.NFO file. If you have difficulties with making this work, please post back.

After reading your description and getting a glimpse at the STOP errors (all but one are STOP 0x116's), I tend to suspect that your video card is having hardware problems. See the link here for STOP 0x116 troubleshooting (applies to Vista even tho' it's in the Win7 forum): STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting - Windows 7 Forums

And, if that's the case, then the next step is to try another video card.

Also, please remove Daemon Tools as some versions have issues with Vista/Win7. Feel free to reinstall it after we're done troubleshooting.

Also, please remove or update these older drivers that were loaded at the time of the crash. Don't use Windows Update or the Update drivers function of Device Manager.

Hi, thank you so much for replying. this is the NFO file.

I am sorry but I am unsure of which of your instruction to follow first. So you want me to rule out the hardware problem first (but I think I will then have to enable the graphic card which will prevent me from starting up normally) or do you want me to update the drivers?

If it is the video card, can you please let me know what I will need to buy (specification etc), I am completely illiterate when it comes to hardware. I am guessing it depends on what we need. My cousin does not play PC games on this computer, I guess converting and burning home DVDs are the most intensive use.

This is an HP Pavilion system (according to the MSINFO32 report).
As such, the video card may be built in to the motherboard.
Also, you'll have to open the case and see what sort of port is available.

According to this page, the video is onboard (so you'll have to disable it in the BIOS AFTER installing the new video card. The specs say that you'll need a PCIe (PCI Express) video card. As the current card is an nVidia 6150, you'll need at least that sort of card to keep the same video appearance. FYI - if unsure about the purchase, buy it from a store that will accept returns!

I've pointed out the problems that I've seen with your system. I suspect that all the other instructions are unrelated to your current problem - but that's only a guess on my part.

If this were my system, I'd replace the video card first because I think that that's your problem. But, I can get a test card at work and can return a new video card if I buy one there, so it's not as critical for me as it is for you. The "doubt" here is the fact that the video works when you disable the card. Because you've already messed with the drivers, that leaves (IMO) either overheating or hardware failure.

Interestingly, these devices are showing problems in Device Manager:

Right click on any ISATAP, 6to4, or Teredo adapters in Device Manager...Network Adapters and select "Uninstall". If needed they will automatically reinstall at the next reboot (but most times they won't be needed and won't come back).

There is no need to do any of this until you fix the video problem. Once the video problem is fixed, I suspect that these problems will still be there. Fixing them will likely fix other problems with your system.

Thank you so much for all your help. Boy genius plugged the PC into a UPS, and i think the UPS did not have enough power and caused the PC to crash.

I will be working on updating the drivers that you have mentioned. I will ask further questions if I have trouble doing so.
