Vista Ultimate 32 freezes after zonealarm - please help

I tried installing the free version of zonealarm in my vista ultimate 32bit. The installation freezed at 18%. I had to hard boot my pc. After that once i log in vista freezes completely in 1-2 mins. I am able to get into safe mode with no problem. I got into safe mode, disabled all startup items, ran a registry checker and fixed issues. Still vista in normal mode freezes as soon as i log in.

Please let me know what i should do to get back vista - its my dev pc and i'm stuck now - HELP !!!

The problem is i run vista ultimate on a mac - using boot camp. I opened system restore and found that it was disabled :( What other options do i have?

Zonealarm installation did not get through - it got stuck at 18% and vista froze. I couldnt see anything under installed programs. When i was in safe mode - i checked the progam files folder - it had a zonealarm folder - i deleted all files from the folder. Also ran a registry cleaner (registry mechanic) and cleaned registry.

Couple of questions - 1. will zonealarm removal tool work in safe mode? 2. even after doing all the above will the removal tool detect zone alarm installation and remove files?

Joshua, you just have to try. I dont know those answers. It should work in safe mode though. Stay away from the reg cleaners, but try this cleaner.

Thanks a lot. Will try it out and let you know how it went. Sorry for the million questions. Its my dev system and im in the middle of a project - cant afford to spend time on formatting - clean install - reinstall all apps - configure (that would be a nightmare).

I found that the System Restore was ON (thank God) - selected a date when the system was working fine, got it restored with no issues.
