BSOD - IRQL is less than equal

I'm new here so please forgive me if i'm posting in the wrong place.

I've had this problem for a while now and i can't seem to sort it out admittedlly because my pc knowledge is basic at best so i would welcome any help on the matter.

Basiclly i keep getting a BSOD and it saying IRQL is less than equal, and i don't know how to solve it. Because device manager says all my drivers are up to date as is windows. so any help would make me a happy bunny.

We can be much more helpful if you can go into c:\windows\minidump, zip the dump file (*.dmp) and upload it to us for analysis.

The minidump files are located at C:\Windows\Minidump

To start, go to Start...All Programs...Accessories...Windows Explorer
Right click on Windows Explorer and select "Run as administrator"
Navigate to C:\Windows\Minidump
Left click on the first file, then hold down Shift and left click on the last file (this will highlight all the files).
Right click on the highlighted area and select "Sent to"
Then select "Compressed (zipped) folder"

Click on the paper clip icon at the top of the Quick Reply box
Browse to C:\Windows\Minidump and select the .zip file
Then click on Upload - it'll automatically upload with your next post.

Thanks for explaining how to do it, i do apologise for my poor pc knowledge.

i have tried to do it but when i try to make a zip folder of it it comes up with error file not found or no read permission, what i do now?

OK i've got it all in a folder on my desktop but it still won't allow me to zip it, as it comes up with.

File not found or no read permission.

3. For simple access problems, the easiest route to take is to take ownership of the files in question. You must be using an account with administrator privileges to do this! To do it, right click on the file/folder that you want to access - and select the "Sharing and Security" menu option. If there is no option for security in this, or the next tab - stop what you're doing and boot your system into Safe Mode (by pressing F8 the moment that Windows starts to load) - then follow these directions there (this has to do with how file sharing is setup on your system).

Once you're in the Security tab for the file/folder that you'd like to take ownership of, scroll down the list until you find the name of the account that you're currently using. Click on it once to highlight it, and then click on the "Advanced" button that's below the list of permissions.

Then, click on the "Owner" tab, click on the name of the account that you're currently in. Then ensure that the box labeled "Replace owner on sub-containers and objects" is checked. Then click on Apply, and then OK. You've now taken ownership of this file/folder and anything below it in the directory structure.

Almost, but not quite. You've zipped up a bunch of shortcuts - not the actual memory dump files themselves.

I suspect that when you went to copy them to your desktop you actually created shortcuts instead. If that's the case, then just go straight to the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and take ownership of the files inside there - then do the zip thing and attach them.

Ok it seems that i no longer have the files in my mini dump folder, and i've looked in the recycle bin and there not there.

So i guess i need to wait for it to happen again?

Ok i've followed all the instructions and it still won't let me zipped the folder and send it. All it will allow me to do is make shortcuts of the files.

So i don't know what to do now, should i contact the manufacturer as i've only had the PC for about 9 months.

The STOP 0xD1 that you're experiencing is a software error - and, as such, it most likely won't be covered under the warranty.

Yes, wait for the error again.
Meanwhile, go to Start and type in "msinfo32.exe" (without the quotes) and press Enter.
Save the report at a .nfo file, zip it up, and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

A PS2 keyboard and mouse was installed on your system - but isn't present now. Is that deliberate, and if so why?

A program called nwmain.exe seems to also be causing problems. Please uninstall Neverwinter Nights from your system and see if that helps.

The only keyboard and mouse i've ever used on my computer are the one's they came with. When you say PS2 is that the same as playstation 2 or is the PS meaning something diffrent?

Nope, PS2 is an old term for the type of connector.
The PS2 connector is round and has (I think) 5 pins in it.
The other type of connector is the USB - which is flat and rectangular.

Which type of keyboard and mouse do you use? If it's the USB, then uninstall the PS2 stuff from your Device Manager.

Ok i know what you mean.

I've been through device manager and the only mouse and keyboard that come up are the HID ones that i've always used. I can't see anything about PS2. I can have a look again later as i don't have much time this morning.

OK, let's get back to the dump files. Try taking ownership of the Minidump folder by using these instructions:

Right click on the C:\Windows\Minidump folder and select Properties
Click on the Security tab, then on the Advanced button
Then on the Owner tab, then on the Edit button
Click once on your account name, then put a checkmark in the "Replace owner on subcontainers and objects" Then click on OK.
Click OK on the warning dialog about reopening, then click on OK 2 more times to exit the dialog.

Then try copying the minidump files to your Desktop.
Then zip them up and upload/attach the .zip file with your next post.

Ok it's now telling me that Windows can't find the mini dump file so i don't know what to do. But i have noticed that the BSOD only seems to happen if i'm playing a game online or watching a video online, Does that help in anyway?
