Blue Screen O Doom

New Member
I just got two brand new dell computers one behing a desktop and the other being a laptop within a few days of eachother and as of a few nights agothey both have been blue screening and giving me a physical memory dump....
My laptop dose it once ever few days but the desktop is ever 20mins its driving me nuts they both have vista x64 on them anyone have any ideas?

alright dude, you installed something recently on both of these pc's we all know you did. what was it, uninstall it, problem solved

i only installed cod4 and itunes on both and my anit spywere and firewall

If you have the KB 973879 update installed, uninstall it and reboot. Otherwise if that doesn't work try looking through the .dmp files.

this will be a shame esp with those games. but uninstall everything that you have recently installed. the games, antivirus and the firewall. update the drivers for everything on your pc's, go to the manufacturers website (dell in this case) and update absolutely everything.
once you have maxed out your updates (you might have to reflash your bios too) install the games anti-virus and firewall.
Also remember you are running 32-bit applications on a 64-bit OS, so compatibility is especially an issue. updates are essential right now go to microsoft update and update everything from there too.

If installing all these programs caused the problem uninstalling until he fixes this will be a short term fix.
If he is updating drivers and the computer BSOD's again because of the applications, he will be even more screwed than before.

There is nothing about software causing the problem.

i dont think it is program cause i have uninstalled just about everything and deleted most of my files and nothing.... starting to think i just need to do a full system wipe

Go to Start and type in "windows update" (without the quotes) and press Enter
In the next window, click on "Installed Updates" in the lower left hand corner.
Scroll down and locate (KB973879). When you find it, right click on it and select "Uninstall".
Reboot and see if it still Blue Screens.
