blue screen of death -BSOD problem

my life was was almost perfect until this dreadful BSOD came along

i hav a Toshiba A200 1M 5 laptop

intel core duo processor 2.00 Ghz

1 GB of ram

built in bluetooth and wifi

the actual problem is that when i started the bluetooth i was shown a BSOD ,so i installed the latest bluetooth stack from vista but it worsened the problem now i receive BSOD every time i boot so i had to restore my pc to the time before i installed the new bluetooth stack pls help me to resolve this problem:D

The only thing I could suggest is try doing what you did, again. Perhaps it was the configuration that you had that caused the dreadful BSOD.

Does the system flip to BSOD and then restart? as you'll need to change the restart on bluescreen setting so that you can't retrieve the hex number for the BSOD it will usually show you the white text on blue background and near the bottom will be a string of numbers similar to "0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000" if you can send us that long number we should be able to find you a solution.

actually after i restored my pc i faced a few changes

1)my bluetooth was no longer configured
2)all of my bluetooth drivers were uninstalled
3)no more BSODs
4)when ever i launced configfree(a toshiba program for wifi ,bluetooth) i received a BSOD

yes my pc does flip to BSOD and restart .but it is too fast for me to note down the hex
number .

I thought so most people don't change the setting until it is really needed.

What you need to do is right click on "computer" in the start menu and click [properties] on the popup context menu. This will open the "System Properties".

Click the "Advanced" tab and then near the bottom it will say "Startup and Recovery" to the right of this is a button which says [Settings] click the [Settings] button.

On the new "Startup and Recovery" window the will be a several tick boxes under the header "System Failure" untick the box for "Automatically Restart". and then click [OK] to close the windows.

If you try to redo what initated the BSOD again your PC will pause at the BSOD and you will be able to note the hex numbers. Once again those numbers look similar to this "0x00000000 0x00000000 0x00000000" send us the full string of numbers and we should be able to find a solution.

Copy the minidump out of that folder or run WinDBG as admin (elevated)... or just zip up and upload the minidump(s) here.

Hi -

Bugcheck 0xa = pageable memory was improperly accessed by a kernel mode driver.

You need to update your system with Vista SP1. Most of your Vista OS drivers contain dates from the dawn of Vista - November 2006 - and are clashing with newer device drivers.

Let SP1 come to you via Windows Updates. You should do some prep work to ready your system for its install:

First, get rid of the 1+ year old Kaspersky Internet Security package. Follow the instructions provided by Kaspersky -

Upon completion, re-boot and then reset the Windows Firewall to default settings.

I would suggest that you run SFC - System File Checker - bring up an elevated cmd/DOS prompt -
START | type cmd.exe | right-click on cmd.exe | Run as Admin | type sfc /scannow - re-boot when complete to allow repair of files that cannot be done while system running.

Run the Vista Cleaning Manager Utility - from an elevated cmd/DOS prompt -type cleanmgr tuneup - Check the following boxes:

Defrag the hard drive - use a product like Auslogics
Auslogics - Download Auslogics Disk Defrag

Then go to Windows Updates and see if SP1 is there.

Vista SP2 is now out; however, I recommend that you get your system stable before updating to SP2.

however i hav another situation here
i got a recovery disk from TOShiba which i had used twice earlier and plan to do in the future for clean vista install ,but if i install vista service pack 1 i would not be able to do that anymore ...........................
further i hav recently defragmented my harddrive(15-5-09) and hav already run system file checker -some of the files were corrupted beyond repair-

Glad to hear about SP1 update.

What is the date on the BT drivers?
If 2008/ 9 they will do fine.
If 2007, I would install them. 50/50 chance.
If 2006 or < I would not install them

The last dump file that was uploaded shows an error in cfmain.exe when running LPCFilter.sys. I can't find reliable info on LPCFilter.sys, but it seems to be a driver from Compal Electronics. cfmain.exe, OTOH, is related to the ConfigFree service on a Toshiba laptop. As such, I'd suggest disabling the ConfigFree service to see if that stops the BSOD's.

thnx for the analysis ,i now use my laptop without configfree or bluetooth as i have uninstalled both of them and i have no BSOD problems since ,but i direly need bluetooth ....

I've had issues with the Toshiba Bluetooth Stack for a while now - and I do without it also!
