Solved Windows Mail vs. Live Mail vs. Outlook.com

I'm currently using Windows Mail. My server is OTT Communications, my internet provider. But my emails get deleted on the server. They stay in Windows Mail so I'm not losing them there. I see that you can open an Outlook.com account, and use Windows Live Mail for that. So, does that mean that Microsoft is then the server? If so, I would like to open an account, so my emails don't get deleted on the server. But how do I set up Windows Live Mail so that the server is Microsoft, as opposed to OTT? Thanks, Mike

I've never used windows mail but in the configuration options for your email accounts look for a setting that says something like keep deleted emails on the server. That option should be there.

I managed to set it up. There seems to be a problem communicating with the "MyWay" email account that I also have. Error message says that Firefox may be the culprit. I may need to switch to IE (not a big deal).

The issue I had with OTT Comm is that NONE of my emails would stay on the server, whether I deleted them or not. A big problem, obviously. So I guess I will migrate my old Windows Mail to my new Outlook/Windows Live account.

Right, there should be, but there isn't. I spent an hour on the phone with OTT, and they could not figure out what was happening.
