Windows Mail Sends OK But Only Mail With Certain Attachments Arrive

I'm using Vista Windows Mail and everything has been fine since I got this computer new 3 years ago or so. When sending any email (text only or with an attachment), the sending screen pops up and the little green bar slides across showing the progress as normal every time. When done, the email appears in the sent box showing a successful send. According to Windows Mail, all messages send OK. However, the only emails that arrive at the address destinations are messages with attachments or inserts of 195kbs and over. I've tried numerous test messages to myself and friends with text only and with attachment/insert files in size of 50kbs to over 200kbs and the result is always the same. The mail containing files over 195kbs are the only ones that come through to any email address.

I'm receiving all email (text only & attachments) from outside addresses as normal (at least I hope I am!). There are no email error messages whatsoever. There are no secondary email scans of outgoing mail by antivirus software. I've made no recent computer software/hardware changes. I've done system scans and there are no viruses or malware apparent. I've run a computer scan for errors with auto-fix and the system has been defragmented.

I don't want to put an attachment on every email I send, especially the business related ones. Has anybody else encountered this problem? Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Hello, windows mail can have any email provider as default email service , who is the email service you use as default windows mail ?

Hi! My default email provider is my cable company. When I send any email (text only or with attachments) via their site, everything works fine. I only encounter the problem with Windows Mail via my computer. The account info for the provider in Windows Mail is all correct and has never been changed.

I have Windows Mail, my default mail service is Outlook thru my ISP of Comcast. I have no issues presently, but, if i did, i can contact them via chat or phone and resolve issues. What is the name of your mail program that you have as default ?

Hey Yard Dog! My default email address is with my ISP cable company. I talked with them and there are no issues there. As I said, if I send my email via the cable company's site, there is no problem, so the issue has to be a glitch somewhere in the Windows Mail program. This is the first time I've encountered this bizarre problem since I bought the computer about 3 years ago, with no mail info changes since then. It's very weird

I hear ya, ISP says all good, how bout that help button at top of the E-mail page ? Check the troubleshooting section out. By sending mail through their site, no issues, just through your computer ? You can use other devices and not have issues , in other words, just the computer is having the issues ?

Yes, it's just this mail program issue. There are no other problems with my computer. The email troubleshooting guide doesn't help me because my problem doesn't fit in with the normal issues and I can't find any mention of this exact problem searching on-line. There are no error reports because Windows Mail thinks everything is fine. The sending screen shows the email sending properly and when done, it appears in the sent folder as a successful send ... and everything is fine, my messages are received... if the email has an attachment file over 195kbs, that is! Other than that, they don't show up. Crazy.

Just a wild guess, but give this a try its free. Go to tools, accounts. Then go to sendings. You will see a box ¨breakup messages over" intick that box. If it is unticked, try putting a small number in like 60. This is really a guess, but its the only logical thing that I can think of.

Hi Richard! I went to accounts and that box is unticked and already has 60 showing in the field so it's probably not the issue. Thanks anyway!
