Windows Mail Restore Question?? Help

HI Newbie Here so be kind lol Good to Medium computer skills here! My problem started with my laptop failing! A computer store installed a new hard drive on my Vista 32 HP Laptop and made my old hard drive accessable via a holder and USB wire We also have used Windows Backup on a regular basis but I can't figure out for the life of me how to gain access to our old emails in the old HD ,or our Favorites or Contacts! If someone can instruct me on how to get my old emails over to the new hard drive I would really appreciate it TIA
PS we have Windows Mail on Both hard drives and have for sure included Windows Mail on my Windows Backup External HDl! Thanks Again
