Gmail/Windows live mail keeps kicking me off & logging me out!! Please help!!

Hi there!!

I checked my emails for the first time in months, it was almost finished when I got kicked & it kept signing me out & wont let me sign back in, I have checked all the settings and they seem to be correct. Is there anything I can do to fix this problem? It's driving me nuts!!

May I suggest Firefox: Mozilla Firefox Web Browser

I already use firefox, that's not what the problem is, my problem is that I am using my gmail account through windows live mail & it kept signing me out, now it wont even sign me in.

I even downloaded Mozilla Thunderbird and tried that and it still wouldn't let me log in, kept saying that my email address or password was wrong, I had logged into gmail only about a minute before & it let me log in with the same password and email address that I had tried using with Mozilla Thunderbird. Is gmail not letting people use other email clients either than gmail online?

Can you access your live account through the live website? And the same for google?

Try installing firefox as I previously suggested and try logging into your mail account online

As for your last question, as far as I know you can as long as you've set it up accordingly: Get mail from other accounts - Gmail Help

My email address is a gmail address, I can access it through gmail, I am already using Mozilla Firefox browser, it lets me log in to my gmail account through gmail online but it wont let me do it when I go to use Thunderbird or Windows live mail, it keeps saying that my email address or password is wrong. I know it's not wrong as I logged in a minute before online through gmail before I put my email address & password into either Windows live mail or Thunderbird. I just dont get why Windows live logged me out, I was half way through checking my emails when it happened so I know that the password & email address are the same as they are now as I haven't changed them.

Perhaps you've got a corrupted cookie/js file, I wouldn't suggest something unless I thought it would help.

Nah, as it's a new laptop & this started happening before I got it, it started happening on my old laptop as well, hence why I asked if gmail was letting people use other email clients to check their emails.

Okay, yes it does sound like a clash between gmail and live. I'll try logging into my live account through gmail and get back to you

Worked fine. If you go to:

Mail Settings > Accounts and Import

Click on the Import mail and contacts button. Then type your live address and password, leave it to import. Then you should see your live address appear on that Accounts and Import page, click the little Edit info button next to it and make sure that its selected to send through gmail

It's not only windows live that it happened through as well, it also happened through mozilla thunderbird as well. I will try what you said & get back to you. I dont have a windows live account. I only use my gmail account.

Ignore what I just said about the gmail settings, I thought you couldn't do it the other way round aswell (i.e. live through gmail)

Yip, like I said I have tried everything & nothing works, it seems to be gmail as I have a windows live account that I tried connecting through thunderbird & it worked, it's annoying that gmail wont work through windows live mail. Infact its down right rude if you ask me!!

Well if you've done everything that I've suggested then its almost definitely a clash between the two. But everything that I've read suggests otherwise:

Perhaps its a recent change, I don't know, we've eliminated any other possible cause
