email attachments won't open

I need some help - I cannot open attachments to emails. Am using Windows Live to manage emails and Windows Vista as OS. I can drag attachments to the desk top and open them but this is clumsy and time consuming. Also I cannot save attachments to my files and open them there. I can send emails with attachments.

What do I need to do? Is there some guru out there who can easily solve this?

Try another browser such as Fire Fox or Chrome
Temporarily disable the email scanning on your antivirus
Update your antivirus and run a scan

Windows Mail won't open-no error msg given
Although not your precise problem some of the suggestions, especially clean boot may help

Dear richc46, thanks for the advice. But having done all 3 of the actions that you recommend, I find there is no improvement that I can see. Still unable to open or save email attachments

Did you try the solution included in the link. It has helped others with similar problems
Be sure to try clean boot, given in the link.
Try another browser
