IMAP server has closed connection

Unable to access mail due to the following error. I uninstalled McAfee, and it still won't work. Any suggestions?

Unable to send or receive messages for the imap.gmail.com account. Your 'Inbox' folder was not polled for its unread count. Your IMAP server has closed the connection. This may occur if you have left the connection idle for too long.

That notice gives you all the possible reasons except the most common. It happens to everyone, me included. Wait a few days the email server is down. There may be a notice to that affect on the web site.
