Weird characters in Windows Mail

I'm using Windows Mail 6.0. Every now and then, I start to get weird characters...for example, when I type a question mark, an É is what I get, when I type the at sign, this " comes up. It`s only happening in my mail program.

My control panel setting is correct.

Very grateful for any ideas about how to fix this annoying problem...
