Downloads stop/hang at 99%

Hello,

I have been noticing lately that I can't download anything!

I've tried Rapidshare files, simple stuff like Adobe Reader (just to test,) etc.

No matter what happens, the dialogue box (for downloading) stops at 99%, leaving me the only option to "cancel" the download!

Does anyone else know what could possibly cause this? Is it software I'm already running that it's conflicting with, like iTunes or Trend Micro Internet Security?

Please help. I'd sure like to do more computing than writing simple emails... I'd like to download again. :)

Any help would be lifesaving.

Which browser are u using?

Change the default saving location and have a try :)

I've changed DL location, checked and unchecked the box that says "close this dialogue box when download is complete," etc. It's very fickle. Browser? IE8.

Funny you mention, though, b/c with Firefox, it doesn't do it.

How do I fix the problem so I can go back to IE8 as it's what I'm most comfortable with?

...reset through Internet Options, imported & exported (blah blah) my cookies and stuff. It worked! Thank you SO much!

Curiously, any idea what causes these download hangs? Is this a KNOWN IE8 (compatibility or what not) issue?

It's been an incessant issue for a while now.

I gave Firefox a whirl, but they have no cookie editing/selecting options, from what I could tell. Then again, I'm going on 3 hrs sleep. lol.
