shortcuts to .url files have blank icons

hello everyone,

i'm having a problem. i'm using vista 64 bit and firefox 3.5.2. firefox is set as my default browser.

1) i right click on the desktop, create shortcut
2) i select an internet shortcut (.url file) as the target location
3) the shortcut is created, but the icon for the shortcut is the blank white icon
4) using the shortcut works correctly (firefox opens it correctly)

the icon SHOULD be the firefox icon. if i repeat this exact process on a windows xp 32 bit computer, it works as it should.

i've looked the registry somewhat, but i can't figure out what is wrong or how to fix it. :/

If you right-click the shortcut and click on Properties, will it let you change the icon?

Got to control panel >classic view>default programs>associate a file type or protocol with a program.

A window will open, there search for .url file type and click on change, browse for firefox.exe in c:\program files\Mozilla Firefox and give okay.

Let it finish. It will wipe your problem out :)
