I have browsed through various forums looking for a solution to this problem only to find the normal recommendations of checking hardware and other compatibilty issues with other programs.
I have tested my internet in every configuration that is known to man here they are:
1. removing router from the mix
2. running IE8 with no add-ons
3. uninstalling IE8 and trying IE7...problem remains
4. re-installing IE8...problems remains
5. ran a bit torrent program at same time...bt never skips a beat...internet hangs
6. purchased new router...problem remains!!!
7. is not related to how many tabs are open...hangs even when only one is open
This interuptions can last from 10-45 seconds and if I close IE and try Firefox it hangs upon opening since whatever this interuption is is still in effect so it is not related to IE8. During these hangs my cable modem shows solid steady net connection as wellas the router showing the same. This started when SP2 was released.
These hangs happen on various sites so it is not just one in particular and it seems to not be specific to how long I have been browsing. When the "diagnose connection" tab comes up I utilize it and it sometimes says something referring to a DNS server OR if the hang is over by the time it runs the check it says my connection is fine.
This is really frustration when I am into deep searches or what not and losing my place becomes very annoying. The web is loaded with people all having variations of this same problem and most feel it is IE8 since it came about a little bit after IE8 was released but SP2 followed shortly also and that is when the problem started.
If anyone has found a solution to this please post the fix! I read somewhere about changing the DNS addresses but I need to locote that info again...my connection locked up and I was unable to find it again LOL.
Also I have noticed if you I clear all temp files and whatnot...by this I mean clearing everything in the options available...it seems to work fine for a little while so is there something that is getting overloaded like maybe a certain cache or something is maxed out and is not kicking old stuff out to make room for new?
