IE 8 cannot find network printer (Vista 64bit

Every application on my Vista 64bit computer can find & print to the network printer except from the Internet Explorer 8. It does not show up in the drop down menu for printers. My other Visa 32bit computer can find same network printer from every application including IE 8. could this be a 64bit problem? I am stumped.

I can't help you much unless you fill out your System Specs. However If I were you I'd download Firefox and see if it finds your printer. You can always un-intall it later. I ran IE8 for about a week and do not care for it, if you like MS IE, use IE7, and Ditch IE8.

Or that's what I did anyhow, I'm assuming your Printer which I have no idea what kind it is, is Vista Compatable, Printers are notorious for having poor Vista support with their Drivers, Especially Vista 64 bit. I was lucky my HP Deskjet 952c has Full support drivers for Vista 64 bit OS.

So start by either going back to IE7 or trying FireFox, once you get used to fireFox, you'll wonder why, you havn't been using it from day one. However if you install FireFox, do not make it your Default Browser, you will run into issues some time down the line if you do so.

Again try IE7, stay clear of IE8, is my Suggestion. Run FireFox if you are into Tweaking it, as it is Highly Tweakable. I love FireFox, IMHO, it's the Best of the
Best Browsers out there.

Thanks so much JMHO for your comments. My Vista32bit computer sees everything on the network and up to today the Vista 64bit could not find the printer, which is, BTW, a new Brother 2170w b/w laser. Just as I was about to collect the specs for the 64bit computer for you, I checked the IE 8 one more time and lo! there was the printer! How it got there is a mystery since I was tinkering around quite a bit. Yes, I love Mozilla Firefox and it always found the printer from both computers. It's just that my husband who owns the 64bit likes IE. Thanks again and I just hope it all works tomorrow as well!

Cool you got it working!! Great, oh and running FF for your Default browser is your choice, I recenty ran into an Issue doing so, at which point I switched to EI7 for my Defaut Browser for now, until I fix it all the way.

The point is your Printer is working fine now right?? That's Great!! Oh and your Welcome though I didn't do much, LOL!! :p

How abot Chrome?? Ever try it?? Or is it a Bunch of ADS?? That's what I invisoin.
I like the name though Chrome, sounds COOL!! Check this out, LOL!! :D
