attached .pps file in windows mail will not open

Hello, I have powerpoint viewer installed, yet I am unable to open attached .pps files in windows mail. the message I get is that there is not a program aasociated to this file to open it. Yet in the control panel default programs it shows that the file extension .pps default is the powerpoint viewer. Do I not have it installed correctly, or do I need to fix something.

Try copying it to a folder or the desktop...
Then right click it and re-associate PPV as the open with app.
If all else fails have the sender do it again.

thanks for the note, but I have several of these from different friends with the same problem and it seems to me that what you are suggesting defeats the purpose of being able to open the .pps when you are looking at the email itself.

I might add that this is a new Dell I have had for only a month so Vista and Windows mail are new to me.
