When I visit Speedtest.net - The Global Broadband Speed Test (sorry, the forum seems to want to be "clever" by looking up and inserting the full title of the page) in IE7, I see that my transfer rates are what they should be, but the ping test maxes out at 999ms. This seems to jibe with my experience loading pages. With any site, the page takes forever to load, but once it does, I can watch YouTube clips, "HD" full episodes of ABC shows, or any other bandwidth-heavy content fine. When I visit speedtest.net in Firefox, the ping time is about 75ms, and when I do a command line ping test of speedtest.net, it's closer to 15ms. I tried disabling all IE7 addons with the exception of Flash (required for the speed test), but that didn't improve anything. Any ideas?

Hi. Have you tried a total reset of IE7 in the options menu? Puts everything back to default. Could you tell me which antivirus you have installed? I have found Kaspersky tends to mess with explorer settings too much.(thats if you have Kaspersky of course).

What kind of ping times are you looking for? Anything less than 100 is good.
Mine is 98ms to Denver, 106ms to ME, 104 to Prince Rupert, 76 to LA, Globally-top 23%, Country-top 32%
Instantaneous ping isn't possible yet. If you're getting 75ms and 15ms: SMILE! then laugh really evilly!
